What I know for sure is that therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience.

Therapy, in all its manifestations, is an intentional space created to explore who you are, learn how you operate, and develop ways to be the best version of yourself. Most often, it’s a mixture of so many different things. At times, it can be direct, focused, and specific. At other times, it can be open-ended, meandering, and broad. The uniqueness of therapy is that it can be a serious practice of self improvement and a fun journey of self celebration all at the same time. The goal of our time together is to explore all of these expressions so that you may begin to view both your present-self and your-future self in a more authentic, positive, and hopeful way.

I primarily work with young adults and others in adulthood; I also have experience working with couples and specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients.

My primary focus in our time together in therapy is to create a caring, non-judgmental and safe, collaborative environment for us to walk through doors of personal exploration, understanding, and growth. Along the way, I encourage you to be yourself! As a therapist, my focus is on listening and learning about who you are and how you best learn, experience, feel, and navigate life. If together we can work towards discovering what you already do well and what healthy behaviors already come easy to you, then we can utilize your natural skills to help you manage the more difficult things in your past and current life. My clinical approach incorporates person-centered and psychodynamic techniques, and I also pull from my previous training in CBT, Improv for anxiety, and The Gottman Method for relationship work.

My experience includes working across the spectrum of psychopathology in community treatment centers, residential treatment, and outpatient clinics. Furthermore, I have spent several years utilizing comedy writing and improvisation techniques to decrease anxiety and am trained in this approach.  As an international educator-consultant, I have also created and demonstrated basic and advanced levels of trauma-informed care. I attended Albion College and completed my master’s degree with a specialization in Trauma at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  I’m also trained in the Gottman Method.
