I believe that therapy is a process in which one explores change, motivation, and accountability to access this richer, fuller life.

In a professional, therapeutic journey, success comes from learning more about yourself, gaining a deeper understanding of your emotions and your thought processes, and enacting new ways of being that can lead you to a more authentic life and richer connections with the people and the things around you.  My goal, as the therapist, is to use whatever evidence-based practice and tools I have to support and assist you in that uncovering.

Specialties:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship Issues
  • College and Life Transitions
  • Men's Issues
  • LGBT and Queer
  • Chronic Illness

I work primarily with adults in individual as well as couples’ therapy; additionally, I have a speciality in men’s issues and am a nationally-published expert on work with queer men.

I will work with you to identify how your motivations and values have been defined over time. With mindfulness infused, we will build awareness as to how your emotions and thoughts influence important parts of your life. Together, we will identify and begin taking action steps in order to begin creating meaningful change and deeper authenticity. I employ Gestalt principles to gain insight into the relationship between lived experiences and emotional responses. I often incorporate Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you learn mindfulness-based practices to help create and maintain change. My main focus is to be reflective and relational for our time together, always striving to promote authenticity.

In addition to the work with this practice, I am also a core faculty at Adler University. I trained at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and have provided mental health services in various settings for children, adolescents, and adults. I obtained my PhD in Counselor Education and Counseling Practice from Idaho State University and have studied and, subsequently, authored several publications regarding LGBTQ+ issues in counseling.
