FAQ
Yes! We offer both. Virtual therapy is offered through video conferencing or over the phone and is available throughout all of Illinois. Our office is located in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, between Roscoe Village and the Southport Corridor.
All of our providers are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Blue Choice PPO plans. Many of our providers are also in-network with United Healthcare PPO, Cigna PPO, Aetna PPO , and Lyra Health.
Most insurance plans cover mental health and substance abuse treatment. Our staff can help to provide an estimate of your benefits (although this is not a guarantee of coverage) and, for in-network plans, we will request all authorizations and submit all claims for you. Co-payments are collected following each session. Call us at 773-234-2137 or email administrator@tandempsychology.com with your plan information.
We accept out-of-network payment. Therapy is almost always reimbursable as an out-of-network benefit. Most people have this benefit within their plan without knowledge of it.
An out-of-network plan means that your insurance company will fully or partially reimburse for care outside their network of health care providers. By calling the number on the back of your insurance card, you can determine if you have out-of-network benefits and what percentage of the outpatient psychotherapy fee they will cover.
If you need support navigating the process, call our team at 773-234-2137 for help.
Therapy, psychological testing, and neuropsychological testing are usually covered by HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) plans.
We offer therapy and psychological testing appointments seven days a week, both day and evening.
Depending on availability, you may be able to have an appointment the next day. Most of the time, first appointments are scheduled within a week of the initial request.
You are in charge of your therapy and how long you will engage. Therapy typically works best as a process rather than a very brief intervention. The relationship with your therapist is very important to the process and builds gradually. Short-term therapy is typically understood as 8-12 sessions, medium is around 24 sessions, and beyond is considered long-term therapy. We encourage you to discuss questions about the length and focus of therapy directly with your therapist whenever the need arises. While we know that therapy is an investment of your time and financial resources, we’ve also seen the commitment to therapy pay off time and time again.
We offer couples therapy, adolescent and family therapy, premarital counseling, neuropsychological testing, and psychological testing. We also offer group therapy, although offerings frequently change. Please contact us for our most current group therapy offerings.
We are also committed to education and advocacy regarding mental health. As such, we will continue to regularly post articles, advocate and educate in the media, and donate to organizations that align with our values.
We have several small suites on the same floor of the building. Within each suite is a comfortable, relaxed waiting area with refreshments. Our therapy rooms are specifically designed to be soundproof and put you at ease.
The most consistent predictor of therapeutic outcomes is a strong relationship with your therapist. Reading through our therapist’s pages is a great starting point to determine fit. If, for any reason, you and your therapist don’t connect in the way that you need, we will happily help connect you with another therapist. We know that this work is especially personal and that it requires that you feel free to express yourself honestly and freely. Our highest priority is to help you get what you need from therapy.
