Therapy can help us do what we can with what we have; it allows us to identify and make use of where each of us holds possibility, choice, and power.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey we take to a thriving place within ourselves. Inside of you is a flourishing self who is built for connection, creativity, contentment, and hope; by building a relationship with a therapist who will join you in identifying, being curious about, and compassionately confronting the things that obscure this thriving self, you grow empowered to both create and reconnect with the best version of you. This often means exploring all the resilient ways you have adapted to a world that wasn't built for your truest, richest self and discovering the safety, opportunity, and skills to better operate in a way that you determine is more authentic or more effective for you.
Therapy cannot erase the past or give us certainty or control over the present or future. What it does do, however, is help connect us with our own agency to influence the world around us, to navigate and have grace with the internal and external limitations we encounter, and to live in accordance with our values.

I regularly work with adults of all ages across a variety of identities and communities, and I've found great meaning in working with members of the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, as well as individuals struggling with process and substance addictions. I find working with clients coping with relationship or identity concerns, as well as individuals whose functioning is impacted by social stigma or low community support, especially rewarding.
I utilize an integrative approach in therapy which centers humanistic, relational, and interpersonal lenses, which is to say I believe transformation and healing occurs in the context of relationships and I seek to help clients understand themselves and grow in the context of those relationships; this includes their relationship with other people and with larger systems, our own therapeutic relationship, and the clients' relationship with different parts of themselves. I also incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients explore how the stories they tell about themselves and the world influence the way they feel and operate in it and to help patients author new or more flexible stories that better serve them. I am additionally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention for clients whose needs and presentations may benefit from these approaches.
I've previously worked for Northwestern University's Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing in the Feinberg School of Medicine, as well as with the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Much of my work experience and training has also been in higher levels of care where I've specialized in treating individuals experiencing acute crises in regards to trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, substance use, and eating disorders. In addition to my work with Tandem Psychology, I serve as the Site Director for SunCloud Health's PHP/IOP in Northbrook where I continue to support clinicians and clients in promoting the stabilization of severe mental health concerns.
I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology-Counseling from Roosevelt University and a Master of Arts in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago.
